We hold the ARCtick refrigerant handling licence that is legally required for this work, and we are also a licensed electrician, so the electrical side is not somebody else's problem.

Undersized and the unit runs flat out on the worst days and never quite gets there. That is the obvious failure, and it is the rarer one.
Oversized is the failure people do not recognise, and in a humid climate like ours it is worse. A unit with too much capacity cools the air to setpoint fast and switches off — before it has run long enough to pull any real moisture out. You end up with a room that reads twenty-three degrees and feels clammy, a compressor that short-cycles itself to an early death, and a power bill that makes no sense. On the Clarence, dehumidification is half of what you are buying.
Correct sizing takes account of the room volume, not just the floor area; the amount and orientation of glazing; ceiling height and insulation; how many people are usually in there; and what the room is used for. That takes ten minutes on site and saves years of annoyance.

On the coast — Yamba, Iluka, Maclean and anywhere in the Lower Clarence — we will also steer you toward a corrosion-treated condenser coil. Salt air destroys standard coils, and the premium at purchase is far cheaper than replacing the unit years early.

The parts you cannot see matter more. Brazed joints done properly under nitrogen. The system evacuated with a vacuum pump and held, rather than gassed and hoped for — moisture left in a system is what kills compressors. Condensate drained to somewhere that will still work in five years instead of dribbling down your wall. Pipework run neatly and lagged. Brackets sized and fixed to something structural. And a Certificate of Compliance for the electrical work at the end.
We can supply the equipment as part of the job, which is usually the simplest route and means one party is responsible if something goes wrong. We are also happy to install a unit you have bought yourself — but talk to us before you buy it, not after. We would rather spend ten minutes checking that what is in your cart is the right capacity, the right type and appropriate for your location than turn up to install something that was never going to work.

It depends on capacity, the type of system and how difficult the install is — a back-to-back split on a single-storey brick home is a very different job to a multi-head across a two-storey. We quote on site for free and the quote is the price.
Yes. Handling refrigerant requires an ARCtick licence from the Australian Refrigeration Council, and the electrical connection requires a licensed electrician. We hold both, so one trade does the whole job legally.
Ducted gives the best whole-home result and costs the most to install and run. If you genuinely only use two or three rooms, splits or a multi-head usually make far more sense. We will tell you honestly which applies to your home.
A straightforward single split is usually half a day. A multi-head is typically a full day. Ducted is normally two to three days depending on the number of zones and roof access.
Yes. High-set timber homes and heritage places need more planning around pipe routes and condenser placement, but it is very rarely impossible. We work it out at the quote.
Yes, and we would encourage it. An annual service and clean keeps efficiency up, keeps mould out of the indoor unit and is usually a warranty condition.
